Dhirjinder firmly feels that everyone has the capacity to live their best life, which is what she believes in as a therapist. We may achieve this when we develop the ability to take charge of our circumstances by remaining composed under pressure, when we are able to recognize and confront faulty thought patterns, and when we are prepared to alter actions that feed destructive cycles. There are occasions when we can accomplish this on our own, without the aid of other experts. Yet, in order to reclaim control over our emotions and the challenges of life, we require expert assistance when we frequently feel trapped, let down, emotionally overwhelmed, upset, angry, pessimistic, and nervous.
Dhirjinder is a Registered Psychotherapist with qualifying status who graduated from Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab, India with a master’s in counselling psychology. Before that, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in a Minor in Psychology from Patiala University. Most of Dhirjinder’s work focused on the factors that lead to unhealthy thoughts and believes, impact on an individual’s life as well as on other related relationships.
Since beginning clinical practice in 2001, Dhirjinder has worked with a wide range of clients and developed specialties in supporting high-conflict couples, families experiencing divorce, children and adolescents who are experiencing mental health issues, and people impacted by addiction behaviour.
She draws from a range of effective therapy models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Relationship Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
EFT is an evidence-based couples’ intervention that uses an attachment lens to promote emotional safety and trust between partners. Trauma, infidelity, everyday poor communication patterns, harmful acquired behavior, interpersonal disorders, and other experiences might jeopardize emotional safety. Dhirjinder works with couples to establish a safe environment to break down barriers to open communication and facilitate healthy and pleasant interactions that heal the impact of past wounds and help partners feel more connected, heard, understood, and loved by one another. Dhirjinder is incredibly passionate about dealing with couples; it is this work that encouraged her to become a therapist.
Dhirjinder is aware of the courage and determination required to decide to seek help. Her clients frequently remark on her ability to encourage them to make changes and overcome challenges since she has a flair for exposing their innate strengths and resilience. She is also well recognized for her ability to guide her clients toward making changes in their lives that are long-lasting and for assisting them in realizing what aspects of their lives are under their control. Working with people who are dealing with issues like unhealthy relationship dynamics, mental health, grief and loss, infidelity and trust, trauma, addiction, life transitions, shame and guilt, identity formation and exploration, chronic pain or illness, and personal growth is Dhirjinder’s area of expertise.
Dhirjinder is very open and honest during the treatment process, bringing her genuine, fun-loving personality to each session. She consistently provides her clients with polite insights and opinions so they can consider different viewpoints. Dhirjinder is very open to hearing from her clients and feels that addressing any feelings that surface during therapy is crucial to bringing about long-lasting transformation.
Her exposure to other faiths and cultures firsthand allows her to integrate your personal values with your ethnic/cultural and spiritual beliefs, enhancing the significance and effectiveness of your therapy session.
