Event Description

Joe Elkerton, an Indigenous Torontonian and intergenerational survivor of the Indian Residential School System, will lead this workshop.
The workshop will give an overview of the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada and develop your general knowledge of First Peoples in Canada. Together we will begin the process of more deeply understanding how the work we can do related to the Calls to Action presented by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. And together we will address the issue of collective and historical trauma experienced by First Nations people. Facilitator Joe Elkerton will provide valuable insights towards working effectively with traumatized indigenous youth and their families that will change your practice.
