In “Beyond the Basics”, clinicians with a basic understanding of DBT will learn to develop increasingly sophisticated and targeted interventions through:
- Exploring how to teach some of the more complex, nuanced DBT skills (e.g. non-judgemental stance, radical acceptance, opposite action) in relation to complex presentations such as bipolar disorder, concurrent disorder, eating disorder and self-harm
- Discussing what to do when your interventions don’t seem to be moving your client forward
- Taking a closer look at the role of the DBT consultation team and putting this approach into practice with small group exercises, as well as through case consultation with the larger group
- Participants are invited to bring case examples and to submit specific issues prior to the workshop after registering. This experiential and collaborative training will help expand your knowledge of DBT strategies and skills through lecture, role play, video analysis of clients and practical exercises.
