Community Mediation Skills Training Program
This training was established to assist Durham Region residents in resolving conflict through the process of mediation. Both Level 1 and Level 2 Mediation Training courses are available over 21 hours of Theoretical/Skills Training to the public. Upon successful achievement each participant receives a certificate which recognizes this mediation skill.
Referrals to CJA’s Durham Community Mediation Program (DCMP) come from Durham Regional Police, Durham School Boards, By-Law Offices, Housing and the community residents.
Restorative Justice Training Program
This training was established to assist Durham Region residents in resolving conflict through the process of mediation Restorative Justice. Training courses offer Restorative Justice Training over 21 hours of Theoretical/Skills Training to the public. Upon successful achievement each participant receives a certificate which recognizes this mediation skill.
Referrals to CJA’s Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP) come from the Courts and Youth Justice Committees.
Successful participants of the training program are eligible to enter an application and interview process. Upon approval they may be selected to join CJA’s volunteer roster of diverse volunteers from the community. The roster is use to serve the mediation program at Community Justice Alternatives.
