Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County, Joyce Kope House
Joyce Kope House is a safe 27 bed residence for children, youth and women, over age of 12 years who have been released from correctional institutions on parole or are on temporary absence passes or bail. Also for homeless women, women released from mental health facilities, women going to and from treatment centres , women living on the street and overflow from shelters for abused women and for women recently released from detoxification centres. Rules include no male visitors, no weapons, no drugs and no alcohol. Residents can access any Elizabeth Fry service or program free of charge. Joyce Kope House is under contract to Correctional Services Canada for some beds for federally sentenced women, under contract to the Ministry of Public Safety and Corrections Services for Provincial parole and community beds and under contract to the County of Simcoe as a hostel. As a homeless woman your first 30 days are paid for by the County of Simcoe and after that you go to a room and board situation. All children, youth and women are eligible to stay at Joyce Kope house whether they are are in conflict with the law or not.
