Fairbairn House is a ten (10) bed open custody facility, operated under contract with the Ontario Provincial government and the Department of Justice Canada. The facility serves male young offenders. These youths are serving a sentence set in an Ontario Youth Court. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Fairbairn House targets programming through a cognitive approach, employing a Personal Life Management methodology. Through this methodology, participants are:
Assisted in identifying their individualized needs that place them at risk for involvement with the criminal justice system
Provided opportunities to develop and practice skills that will enhance their abilities to contribute pro-socially in the community
Supported in utilizing the relationship between behaviour, skills development and low risk to re-offend in the community.
